Jean’s Jottings – The advantage of being old during a blizzard is, I never had to go outside since last Tuesday. The boys fed and watered the cats in the shed and brought my mail in on Saturday.

I had put plastic on all the windows, but this wind found new places to blow in! I discovered some new gaps behind a window that hadn’t been there in the past. The nails had pulled away about four inches from the bottom of the window trim.

This room was paneled many decades ago and the space between the window and the baseboard was filled in with various sizes of the leftover paneling, like pieces of a puzzle. It took a bit of creativity, with cutting some file folders to fit underneath the back of the trim and taping to the wall, so I could stop the wind from blowing the plastic long enough to tape it over everything. In one particular spot, I would think I had stopped the leak around the baseboard, but I had to keep going. I pulled out a shelf, turned the corner, taped, and stopped the breeze in the internal wall.  I stopped the breeze and used various kinds of tape, including Duct tape. I will, no doubt, need to replenish my supply.

One positive outcome was the “stuff” on the shelf was sorted, that corner vacuumed and is now the cleanest corner in the house!
